Evelien Alexiou
poetry in motion
Evelien Alexiou is a performer working at the intersection of contemporary dance and interdisciplinary performance. Her practice is rooted in an intuitive and physically grounded movement language, developed through close attention to sound, space, and presence. She is particularly interested in the relationship between body and atmosphere, and in how movement can emerge in dialogue with live music and visual environments.
As a core member of Mótha, she collaborates in the creation of immersive performances that bring together electro-acoustic music, movement, and projection. Within this context, she develops a performative language that is both precise and responsive, contributing to the group’s distinctive sensory and visual identity.
Her work is characterized by a strong stage presence and a focus on creating intimate, experiential encounters with the audience, often situated in site-sensitive and multidisciplinary contexts.
