Thomas Hoste

Ever since discovering the hurdy-gurdy, Thomas has been captivated by the instrument’s rich and distinctive sound—a fascination that soon grew into a true passion.

With a background in IT, he brings a unique perspective to his music, blending ancient tonal traditions with modern sound techniques.

Alongside his work with Mótha, he performs across Western Europe with the bands Fyndus, Hidrae, Cecilia, Threo, and Nebel, and is also a sought-after guest musician for various ensembles.

Thomas regularly introduces the hurdy-gurdy to wider audiences through media appearances and national radio broadcasts. In early 2024, he had the honor of performing a solo part with the symphonic orchestra “Prima La Musica,” conducted by Maestro Dirk Brossé, during a live broadcast on VRT.

In addition to performing, Thomas is an experienced teacher who has led numerous workshops dedicated to his instrument.
