"De Manen Opzij" is a unique collaborative project featuring four prominent figures from the Belgian experimental and underground scene: Colin H. Van Eeckhout (Amenra, CHVE), Simon Segers (De Beren Gieren), Maarten Marchau (Mótha), and Thomas Hoste (Mótha, Fyndus). The album was released in July 2022 via the Consouling Sounds label.
It blends ambient, drone, and folk influences into a layered and unconventional sound, creating a haunting, almost ritualistic atmosphere. The use of instruments like hurdy-gurdy, flute, and percussion gives the music a character that feels both ancient and modern.
Although mainstream coverage is limited, the album is well regarded within underground circles for its deep, immersive atmosphere. Its minimalist approach gradually builds strong tension, resulting in music that feels both introspective and spiritual. It is often praised as an engaging listen for fans of post-rock and experimental drone.
