Franky goes to Amenra (NL)

Eén geheel, over twee avonden, complementair en met drie mensen. Dat was Mótha. Thomas Hoste met een draailier, Maarten Marchau op traverso en er was Nele Nu. Met een vuurrood gewaad en witte strepen op haar gezicht. Net zoals Native Americans vroeger ten strijde trokken en daarvoor strepen op hun gezicht schilderden, net als een dier die zijn pels, een vogel zijn verenpracht of een vlinder zijn vleugels toont om schrik in te boezemen of respect af te dwingen. Of wou ze bescherming of bepaalde krachten oproepen, net zoals bij het opvoeren van een heilige dans of een ritueel? Zo......

We took the risk. I took the jump.

So we were booked as Amenra’s support act. Yes, we were. Quite the honour. And quite the crowd to warm up.  As the shows were approaching, our anxiety became excitement and nervousness was replaced with curiosity. We chose the Pipi Langkous attitude: 'I have never done this before, so I think I will be able to do it.' We would take that stage as any other, more intimate setting we had already taken; starting off on that same point: ‘we know nothing, therefor anything can happen’. We would stay true to what we always do: Mótha improvises.
